Resistance Training
With weights or resistance bands.
Including resistance training as part of your programme gets more and more important the older we get. Nobody wants to let everyday tasks become more difficult. Keeping core muscles and back muscles strong to help avoid posture problems will improve bone density and lower the risk of osteoporosis and arthritis. It also helps to reduce the risk of injury and improve lean tissue mass – and also has the benefit of looking and feeling better as we get older.
Client example 'Client B' was suffering from terribly painful arthritis in their hands. We began their programme gradually at their home using resistance bands and flexibility exercises (stretching exercises that improved their 'range of motion') and helped them to perform daily activities more easily and with less pain. After 8 weeks the swelling around the joints and hands had gone down by 15%.
